    Uneasiness property

Post by Vicboy on Fri Oct 26, 2012 10:55 am

Let's just say that the Thing doesn't like staying as a Marine if it doesn't have to.

If it's in Marine form and there are less than 3 marines with it, it'll start to feel uneasy and will transform into the Thing once it's psyche drains out. (Kinda borrowed it from MGS)

But if the Thing is around plenty of people (those massive groups), then it won't drain its psyche as it fears too much.

I'm typing this as I see 13 players grouping up.

    love the idea,
    Is the psyche draining fast?
Also, if hes alone, does his psyche drain as a marine? Cause this could make things complicated XD

I was thinking that maybe his psyche drains even in large groups, just to pressure him not to wait like a faggot.

Maybe alone it won't drain... I'll rethink about this.

Well, if you don't really like your idea, I might have something similar which will push the Thing to act faster.

    Implement a ''thirst for blood"

-Every X minutes, the Thing lose Y% of his maximum life.
-If he kill someone, he goes back to 100% maximum life.

Only this would make the whole game more dynamic, I believe.

Now just some idea to complement it:
-If a marine dies, a corpse is left behind.
-The thing can go eat this corpse and it counts as a kill. Takes about 5-10 sec to eat.
-When the thing see a corpse, it can also decide to infect him, making a baby. (it does not count as a kill so he dont get 100% of his life)

-The babies can only stay in marine form for X minutes before they transform back in alien form. (If you fear this make the game too easier for the Thing, do that they cannot lock door/stim)
-Their alien form could be Infected marine, and have the same stats as a regular marine. (50 Life, no Stim, same walking speed)
-Babies cannot change their marine color.
    -They cannot attack the Thing.

Just some suggestion to push the Thing to do some shit, instead of waiting for marine to kill eachother Razz Take what you want, leave the rest!

you should replace the control gauge with this bloodthirst idea but make the life lost only visible to the thing

I think in theory this gauge was a good idea, but in play it just doesn't work and destroys what made the game so unique... someone you've been waiting with the entire ends up being the thing. The gauge completely ruins that strategy.

If anything, maybe make it a random feature, so not every game has it, so people won't know what to expect, which would make the game more fun.

how about the bloodthirst thing makes the thing faster and lose life over time..but once he eats someone he is a fat and plump thing again and he moves no faster than a marine
