    If Marines have their ranking, Thing should have skins?

    Are there any other skins that seem appropriate to the Thing lore?

    This seems like a fair reward for thing, and it shouldnt change the game at all, so why not? The skins that I've seen that look very good are Big Roach, Queen, Lurker, and I personally think that Hybrid Reaver and Infestor would also look very good. Big Zergling, Hydra and Big Drone were all Meh. Overall, I think the addition of new skins for the thing to choose during the before-match screen is an AMAZING idea.

    Hulk, Infested civilian, Infested Marine, Dog (Perhaps an infested re-remake + Custom animations),

    2nd Suggestion: Make a thread about concept models and submit it the Sc2 Mapster

    Well, I could go ahead and ruing your day by telling you the majority of players don't get to be Thing. (Because up to 13 can be marine and only 1 can be Thing) Also, you're going to get wtf hate mail from people wondering why Thing gets skins but not marines (the majority of players in the game.)

    But its a step in the right direction so lets ignore that.

    I'm not sure about the whole attack animation thing, but Changeling would be cool :> Infested Colonist is definitely a way to go because its easy, it makes sense and has an attack animation. Burrow animations might be weird for some, but infested colonist has one as well. I don't know. Some of the ones Data suggested would be cool, but idk about animations and stuffs.

    If you want to stretch it a bit, you could go with this

    The infested colonist and civilian are the same model. However I think they are all a little cliché!

    HotS data isn't in my game.

    My game could exist in a pre-HotS SC2.

    I know two things about implementing HotS into the game:
    1. More assets to use such as models and portraits. Everything gets a little more richer.
    2. Everyone CAN join a HotS-enabled game, which previously was only restricted to HotS customers.

    What I don't know is if it would increase loading time or introduce more bugs/errors.

    I've always considered implementing it my game though.

    You really should for a number of reasons, though I can't say much from a technical perspective. I'm pretty sure loading times don't increase because if I'm correct it only loads the items the game uses in initial setup (could be wrong). 

    Bugs and stuff I have no fucking clue, period. 

    Though HotS would allow more variety of doodads and textures to make the game look a little bit nicer. For example, the current snow texture is absolutely hideous. The Kaldir texture set, however, can look extremely attractive if you are skilled with glacier doodads etc. (HotS as well).

    Perhaps change the dependency on a test map and see what happens?

    I agree with the skins idea. It should be based on your points, like mafia, that you unlock skins. I loved to turn people into the skins they wanted, it always made the game a bit more fun Smile

    The brutalisk and queen looked sick, there was this admin who changed the things skin to brutalisk and it was scary. Also mini abberision look scary like dead zombie babies. There was also this admin that changed everyone's skin to a mini colored abberision slowly, it was scary. Sadly he changed me first and I just met a group and they killed me, before the admin could turn other marines too...I think it was willuwontu but yeah awesome.

    Vic, the HotSwarm dependency will not significantly increase the loading time of the game (just about 2 more secs).

    when you consider that would be from a toaster it's really not especially with our already 20+ sec loading time.

    Loading screen is long enough that most tab out already. 2 seconds more won't affect anything.
